All Our FAQs in One Place
Hair Extensions
What types of hair extensions do you offer?
«We offer keratin bond extensions and genius wefts, and our extensions are made and customized in-house.
Which brands of hair extensions do you work with?
«At Parlour, we don’t rely on big factory brands—we source our own hair directly. Every set of extensions comes from a single donor, is carefully inspected by our team, and is ethically sourced with donors paid fairly for their hair. The result: premium-quality extensions you can feel good about wearing, with no shortcuts and no shady hair trade. Learn more about our hair extensions.
Can I wear my hair in a bun or ponytail with hair extensions?
«The short answer is typically yes! The long answer is it depends on your hair type and length.
The finer your natural hair, the harder it will be to wear your hair in a high bun while concealing your extensions. You will always be able to put your hair back into a low ponytail. We offer a few different install techniques that hide your attachment points. During your consultation, we will go over your lifestyle and how you ike to style your hair to decide which method is best for you.
How long will it take to install my hair?
«Installation times will depend on the complexity and the experience of the stylist. Our more experienced stylists will faster, but we all focus on quality over speed. Here is an idea of the amount of time you'll be in the chair:
- K tip installs take anywhere from 3-10 hours depending on complexity
- Weft installs take between 2-5 hours depending on the number of beaded rows
- For weft and topper maintenance can take between 1-3 hours depending on complexity
- Hair extension consultations last about 30 minutes
- Hair loss consultations last about an hour
Don't worry, we have WiFi, iPads, a coffee bar, cocktail bar, snacks and we order all of our clients lunch.
How much do hair extensions cost?
«Pricing depends on several factors, including how much hair you need, the length and density you choose, the installation method, and the stylist performing the service. During your consultation, we’ll provide a customized quote tailored to your hair and goals. Here is a general idea of our pricing.
Staff | Jacob | |
K tips for density | $1500+ | $4000+ |
K tips for length | $2500+ | $4000+ |
Wefts for density | $1000+
Wefts for length | $2000+
Weft maintenance | every 8 weeks $300-$900
Bonded topper | $2500-4000 initially
Bonded topper maintenance (monthly) | $500 |
For services performed outside of the salon, Jacob's rates are doubled. Please inquire about rates with other staff members.
Can I donate my hair before chemo and have it turned into extensions for later?
«Yes! We are happy to harvest your hair prior to your chemo treatment and have it made into hair extensions, a topper, or wig for when treatment has been completed. Not many salons have the skills to do this.
Please keep in mind the amount of hair donated will determine what we can do with it. Please book a consultation so that we can give you a better idea of what we can do for you.
Is there a long wait to order the hair?
«We keep a lot of hair in stock, so you likely won’t need to wait for a custom order. In fact, we stock so many colors and textures, no one in Philadelphia has this selection. Custom orders can be accommodated and the turnaround time will depend on the type of hair and where we are sourcing it.
Can I sell you my hair?
«We offer a “Sell Us Your Hair” program for clients who have virgin ponytails over 14 inches in length. Hair is reviewed for quality and can be used in creating custom enhancements.
If you are interested, please submit our application.
How do I prepare for my extensions consultation?
«On the day of your consultation, whether we are seeing you in person or virtually, please wear your hair in the texture you wish to match.
Consultations
How long is a hair consultation?
«Hair extension consultations last about 30 minutes.
Hair loss consultations last about an hour.
Virtual vs In person consult, which should I choose?
«A virtual consultation is for anyone interested in consulting with Jacob, our Owner. With a decade of experience, dedicated staff, and thousands of installations under his belt, there is no reason to require an in person consultation. When he sees you the day of your install, he can match and make any necessary changes. With this level expertise comes a higher price point.
An in person consult is best for those interested in seeing another staff member, a sooner date, or lower price point. Jacob will still white glove your consultation and choose the hair for your installation, he just won't be the one doing the installation. An in person consult gives the stylist a chance to prepare for your appointment and results in an extremely high-rated client experience.
Why do you charge a consultation fee?
«At Parlour, consultations are considered paid appointments. Rather than a quick sales pitch, you’ll meet one-on-one with Jacob, known nationally as The Weft Nerd, for a thorough, advice-filled session. You’ll receive a personalized evaluation of your hair, color/texture matching, an honest recommendation of what will (and won’t) work for you, and a detailed quote with no pressure to book. Jacob conducts all consultations and pulls from a decade of experience to ensure the hair and the stylist you are paired result in a seamless installation and a beautiful result. This level of expertise comes with a price of $100 for up to 30 minutes.
From consultation to installation, how long does it take?
«From your first consultation to having your new hair installed, the process typically takes about a month. Need it sooner? We can often expedite and complete everything within a week, depending on scheduling. Please note that a rush fee may apply, as this requires our team to adjust schedules and work additional hours to make it happen.

What if I can't come to the salon for a consultation, but I really want to see another staff member?
«If you want to have your extensions installed by anyone other than Jacob, you'll need to come in to the salon for a consultation. We realize that for those traveling a great distance, this can pose a logistical challenge. So here's what we can do. We will do a virtual consultation initially but you should plan to arrive in Philadelphia the day before your install. We'll have you come in to the salon and meet with Jacob (he does all the consultations) so that we can get an exact color match and prep your extensions for the following day.

«On the day of your consultation, whether we are seeing you in person or virtually, please wear your hair in the texture you wish to match.
Hair Loss
What solutions do you offer for hair thinning and hair loss?
«We offer bonded toppers, clip in toppers, CombLine extensions, human hair wigs along with the mesh integration technique. We also offer services like microneedling using collagen to stimulate the scalp, and LED light therapy to encourage new hair growth.
What can cause hair loss?
«Hair loss can happen for many reasons, including medical treatments like GLP-1 therapy, autoimmune conditions such as alopecia or lupus, thyroid disorders or medications, and even stress on the body from illness or surgery. In some cases, conditions like trichotillomania (hair pulling) can also play a role. If you’re experiencing thinning or shedding, we can help explore safe options to restore fullness and confidence.
Is my hair loss hereditary?
For many people, thinning hair or hair loss is genetic. Hereditary hair loss (sometimes called female pattern or male pattern thinning) is the most common cause of shedding and typically shows up gradually over time, even on younger people. While it can’t be prevented, it can be managed—and you don’t have to settle for feeling self-conscious about it. At Parlour Hair Enhancements, we specialize in discreet solutions like extensions, toppers, and custom hair replacement systems that add fullness and restore confidence without compromising your natural hair.
Do you do toppers and hairpieces for men?
«Yes we offer bonded top of head solutions for men along with non-permanent, no-shave solutions. However, we are not barbers. Once your hair piece has been applied we recommend walking over to the Red Rm, our neighboring barber shop. They offer men's grooming and cuts and will be able to better assist with more complex barber cuts. Pre-booking is strongly encouraged. Walk-ins are welcome.
Hair Donation
Can I donate my hair before chemo and have it turned into extensions for later?
«Yes! We are happy to harvest your hair prior to your chemo treatment and have it made into hair extensions, a topper, or wig for when treatment has been completed. Not many salons have the skills to do this.
Please keep in mind the amount of hair donated will determine what we can do with it. Please book a consultation so that we can give you a better idea of what we can do for you.
Do you accept hair donations?
«"Do you collect hair donations for Locks of Love or similar programs?"
Donations of this nature are not something we can accommodate at this time. We do, however, purchase hair. The hair must be at least 18 inches long and virgin. No color/dye from root to tip. This can be anywhere from 3-5 years ago depending on length. Please note that any hair or loose ponytail that is already cut off we can not purchase.

Hair Models
What's the discount for being a hair model?
«Hair models get a 50% discount off our regular pricing in exchange for participating in our training session. The hair model discount is one time only. Hair maintenance appointments are a regular price.
Is tipping expected for hair model services?
«Tipping your stylist in training is allowed. While hair model appointments are offered at a reduced rate to support stylist education and training, they simply cover the salon’s expenses. If you’d like to show appreciation for your stylist-in-training, tips are always welcomed.
How often do you need hair models and when is the next training session?
«We are always taking model applications! We are constantly training our staff and need different looks based on where the stylist is at in their training. It is best to fill out the form and we will get back to you.
What services are available to hair models?
«All of our hair extensions and hair loss services.
Can anyone apply to be a hair model?
«Yes, as long as they are a first time client and have never had extensions with us in the past. Model opportunities are a one time thing.
Do hair models get to choose the color, length, and texture of the extensions?
«We'll talk about your desired look but being a hair model is more of a collaboration. Models often are chosen for specific looks or hair types to help staff build their skill set. While we will always ask about your goals and try to ensure they are met, it is important to note that not every look may be possible during training for a model discount. It is best to fill out the form and we will get back to you on what is possible.
Can I come back for maintenance at the hair model rate?
«While we'd love to see you back here for your maintenance, model rates are a one time thing. So if your installation was discounted at our training rate, your maintenance appointments will be at regular price.
Why do hair models need to show up in person for a consultation? I would rather consult virtually.
«It is important to physically come in to the salon so that Jacob can assess your hair and create a plan with the stylist who will be training on your installation. This must be in person because the stylist performing the work may not be as experienced. We want everyone who takes part in the model program to enjoy their install. Part of that enjoyment comes from collaborating in person on what the final look will be. If you can not come in person and want to consult virtually, please fill out a hair extensions pre-screening form for a consultation instead.
Can I be a hair model for Jacob?
«At this time, Jacob does not take hair models. He will however be involved in the training process for staff in training. He will perform the hair model's consultation but won't be the one doing the installation.
